Theater in the Open

Theater in the Open is dedicated to creating, sharing and supporting live theater and high-quality youth arts education that is accessible to all regardless of ability, identity, age or socio-economic background. Our programs take place outdoors in nature and in non-traditional spaces as a means to breaking down walls and increasing participation. We believe the stories that challenge and engage both artists and audiences deserve to be told with a spirit of generosity and community.

During the summer months we operate a highly regarded Summer Arts Workshop for ages 6-16. We also offer a season of free outdoor performances in the warm weather months, tour throughout the Northshore, and host the annual fundraiser, ''Maudslay is Haunted!'' in Maudslay State Park in October. Each December, we close our season with a holiday show at the Firehouse Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Newburyport.
