Date: September 18, 2013
Event Description:
On Wednesday, September 18 at 7:00pm at The First Religious Society, lower meetinghouse, 26 Pleasant Street, Newburyport there will be a Documentary and Discussion presentation about “What to Do About Syria?”  This will be the first Documentary and Discussion presentation of 2013-14 and will focus on the confused American approach to the resolution of sanctions against the use of weaponized gas in the Syrian Civil War.  In particular, the concern is what some term American ‘exceptionalism’ or ‘unilateralism’.

Our guest will be Andrew Bacevitch, Col. (Ret.) from the US military, West Point graduate, and currently Professor of History and International Relations at Boston University.  Col. Bacevitch will share his views in interview with Phil Donahue, sitting in on the Bill Moyers show of 09/06/2013. Considered also from this show will be the humanitarian crisis of Syrian refugees – now in the millions.

Under consideration at the meeting will be alternative citizen courses of action, such as the development of resolutions and petitions, writing letters, vigils and marches.

Refreshments will be served.
