Based in Boston, the band met at Berklee College of Music and have been performing together ever since. The quintet, officially formed in 2012, consists of George Clements on guitar and vocals, Patrick M’Gonigle on fiddle and vocals, Matt Witler on mandolin, Gabe Hirshfeld on banjo and Charles Clements on bass and vocals. The band originally formed for a Beatles themed wedding and they continued to perform their Bluegrass covers of Beatles’ songs. They have since relied on their deep understanding of traditional bluegrass and Appalachian music to expand artistically. Their music combines instrumental virtuosity and 3-part harmonies, creating compelling and moving performances.
The Lonely Heartstring Band was recently awarded first place in the Best New Band Competition at the Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival in Maine. Their assortment of traditional bluegrass sound with modern songwriting and arrangement brings a fresh take to a classic genre. The band's performances rely on popular acoustic sensibilities that modernize their bluegrass sound. Playing traditional bluegrass instruments, The Lonely Heartstring Band will cohesively captivate your mind, heart and soul with their blend of acoustic and traditional arrangements.
