Back by popular demand, these concerts lighten the world for all who attend.

Symphony be the Sea brings performs arias and choruses from opera selections by favorite composers including Rossini, Puccini, Bizet, Mozart with guest soloists and full orchestra.

Symphony by the Sea is an all-professional chamber orchestra performing classical symphonic music ranging from Baroque to Contemporary for audiences North of Boston, under the direction of Maestro Donald Palma.

The orchestra was founded when Royston Nash, conductor of the Cape Cod Symphony and former Music Director of London’s D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, assembled a group of local and Boston area musicians and began weekly rehearsals at Marblehead’s Old Town Hall. After playing informally together for several months, the orchestra made its public debut at the Peabody Essex Museum in June 1981.

Their season performs treasured orchestral classics as well as opera, religious and contemporary music. Enhancing the concert experience, Maestro Donald Palma offers brief commentary from the podium, making the program accessible to all.

Symphony by the Sea’s mission is to serve the North of Boston community with great orchestral music performed locally at the highest level.
