Slow Bike Race

Even if you doubt you can be the slowest rider of all, you could still win a prize for best costume at the Slow Bike Race July 31 in Newburyport. Last one across the finish line without touching a foot to the ground will win the First Prize package. The “race” track is a short one, the block of Pleasant Street between Green and Titcomb Streets, and each heat takes just a couple minutes. Registration begins at 5:30 pm on Pleasant Street at Brown Square and the "race" will begin at 6 pm, Wednesday July 31. This is the first year that the event, a fundraiser for the Coastal Trails Coalition and Newburyport Rail Trails, will be held downtown during Yankee Homecoming. Other prizes will be awarded to runners up and a Grand Prize for fundraising.
