Come and quilt with other fabric enthusiasts and learn to make a lap size quilt. Instructor Carol McPhee, founder of the Angel Gabriel Quilters, will teach you to cut and sew quilt blocks using a free pattern. You will use a ruler, cutting mat, rotary cutter, and sewing machine to sew a nice lap quilt. Bring your own tools or borrow ours during class.
You will learn accurate cutting, color planning, and accurate piecing with 1/4″ seams. Additional instruction will be given on how to layer your quilt, batting choices, machine vs. hand quilting, binding, etc. For your fabric, please bring 10 fat quarters of quilter’s 100% cotton fabric. Our lap quilt will finish at 50″ X 60″. A fat quarter is a quarter yard of fabric cut 18″ X 22″ because the width of fabric is usually 44″. Quilt shops offer Fat Quarter packs with lovely, coordinated colors/prints.
