Gusev has generated excitement in America since his performances at Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute, the Boston Athenaeum and salon concerts at St. Botolph's Club and the Algonquin Club. His performances have been described as a blend of “superb technical proficiency” and “lyrical romanticism” seldom found in equal measure, especially in one so young. Gusev has been awarded 22 separate prizes in piano and composition competitions in his native Russia.
Stravinsky’s Five Fingers represent the main program. As an encore the pianist will also perform his own second Sonata, "Dies Irae".
