Name: Newburyport Art presents 'We Share One Sky'
Date: April 12, 2024
Time: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM EDT
Event Description:

Newburyport Art (NAA) is proud to present We Share One Sky, on view in the Sargent, Hartson, and Mural Galleries. This exhibition features a variety of works from 80 area artists, who responded to the words and concept of “we share one sky”. Works include painting, mixed media, photography, sculpture, and more, featuring artist perspectives on a wide range of related subject matter including wildlife, landscapes, cityscapes, community, and the environment. Running concurrently in the Hills Gallery is Saltwater Grounding, a Featured Artist Exhibition by Deb Desmond Meserve. Join artists for an opening reception on Friday, April 5th from 5:00–7:00 pm.

“We Share One Sky” is Newburyport Art’s theme for 2024, and builds off of the successful 2023 launch of the NBPT Murals Project, with the same theme. NBPT Murals is a multi-year, collaborative initiative that aims to connect and engage residents and visitors with Newburyport and the theme “We Share One Sky”, through large-scale, exterior murals. Led by Newburyport Art, NBPT Murals is a cross-sector partners program for which NAA, local artists, the Tannery Marketplace, the City of Newburyport, and Blochaus Art Gallery are collaborating to activate spaces with artwork, while highlighting non-traditional imagery and perspectives of Newburyport. The project is supported by the Creative County Initiative through the Essex County Community Foundation. 2024 kicks off the second phase of the project and additional mural installations. This special exhibition of We Share One Sky enables our larger community of artists, who are not muralists, to engage with this same theme of “We Share One Sky” on a smaller scale.

The galleries are free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00am–5:00pm and Sunday from 1:00pm–5:00pm. Newburyport Art is closed on Mondays. The ground-floor Hills Gallery has an accessible entrance. More information, as well as an online gallery is available at newburyportart.org.

Founded in 1948, Newburyport Art is dedicated to promoting and exhibiting members’ work and to providing art education and access to the visual arts for the entire community.
