Date: January 27, 2025
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM EST
Event Description:

Do you ever wonder if the tax assessor got it wrong? In this class taught by experts Marc Tucker and David Cella, you will learn how to evaluate and challenge a residential real estate valuation and tax assessment in a timely manner. We will discuss the initial consideration of a challenge, filing an abatement application with the local assessors, and how to appeal the assessor’s denial (or partial granting) of the application with a statement or petition filed with the Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board (MATB), the state’s tax court. Class hand-outs include guides, forms and other useful resources. Marc Tucker is an attorney in Newburyport who spent 30-plus years at the MATB as Commissioner and Tax Counsel. David Cella is presently the Chief Counsel of the MATB.
