Joppa Dance Company brings back local favorite! Join us for this wonderful jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, & ballet holiday performance.
This production puts a new twist on The Nutcracker, adding regional themes and humor to the tale of a nutcracker doll that comes to life. Joppa's Mouse King is traded out for a lobster and the mouse army, by green-heads, of course! Instead of Tchaikovsky's, albeit gorgeous, accompaniment, the dance of Sugarplum Fairies, Waltz of the Flowers and others are danced to contemporary versions, ranging from jazzy to hip-hop. Joppa directors, Fontaine Dubus, (Joppa Teen), Jen Steeves, (Joppa II and T2) and Cheryl Fisher, (Joppa Junior), have created fun and playful pieces using contemporary and international music by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Kuljit Bhamra and The Black Eyed Peas.
