Name: Home Sharing: A Solution to Affordable Housing?
Date: April 3, 2019
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
Pennies for Poverty and the Justice Action Ministry of the First Religious Society (FRS) Unitarian Universalist will sponsor a discussion on Home Sharing: A Solution to Affordable Housing?

Tom Decker, executive director of the Vermont Home Share Now program, will share his group’s experience in starting and maintaining a shared housing program. How can we help people stay in their homes or share with others? Learn what is involved and how we can make this possible for the greater Newburyport area.

The free, public event will take place Wednesday, April 3, from 7-8 pm at the FRS Lower Meeting House located at 26 Pleasant Street in Newburyport.

Home Sharing is an arrangement where two or more unrelated people share a dwelling, each having her or his private bedroom and shared common areas.

It allows homeowners to remain in their own homes by providing either rent, or an exchange of services such as home maintenance, yard work, or even cooking and cleaning, offering needed financial, emotional and/or physical support. The person sharing the home also receives companionship, and an opportunity to live in a more affordable environment.
