Event Description:

“If This House Could Talk” is an event sponsored by the Newburyport Preservation Trust that encourages homeowners to tell stories about their homes.  Homeowners then post the stories on poster board in front of their homes during the week of Yankee Homecoming.  In 2018, over 110 homes participated.

"If This House Could Talk", has become the event the has put the "Home" in "Yankee Homecoming".  It’s a grass roots community event that neighbors and families have enjoyed.  How did it happen?

Come hear Jack Santos provide a recap of the last three years of "If This House Could Talk" - the best, the funniest, the most poignant, the most historical signs and stories.  Find out where the idea of "Talking Houses" came from, and some of the challenges in creating the program.  Why did he even bother to do this?  Where else is this being done? Why do people participate? What has it accomplished? And what's in store for the future?
