Convivencia – A Melopoeia
The time of Convivencia in Spain (800 to 1492) was a period of cultural harmony shared by three faiths. The poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca and others draw inspiration from the poets of that earlier time. Convivencia translates to ‘living together’. This poetry…made a profound impact on Spain’s Generation of ’27, but, above all, influenced the work of Federico Garcia.
The Diminished Prophets present the poetry and song of Federico Garcia Lorca and contemporary poetry inspired by him. The words are read by renowned poets, Rhina Espaillat and Alfred Nicol, the guitar accompaniment is by John Tavano, with Roger Kimball on bass and Shannon Muhs on vocals.
