Name: Build Your Own Traditional Kayak Paddle

Event Description: In this class, attendees will each make one traditional Greenland or Aleutian paddle under the direction of an experienced paddle maker. Lowell's will provide instruction, all the required tools, and a paddle blank.  The class will be two separate sessions: 6pm-9pm on Thursday October 22, and 8am-2pm on Saturday October 24. Saturday's class will conclude with a paddle on the Merrimack!

Traditional Greenland and Aleutian paddles are intended to custom fit one person, and your paddle will be unique to you.  Over the course of the class, we will cover:
 
  1. Paddle sizing
  2. Tool Safety
  3. Carving techniques
  4. Outlining a Paddle
  5. Paddle Carving
Everyone goes home with the paddle they make!
