About the Artist
Lennie Mullaney is both an artist and a teacher. She recently retired from full-time teaching to become a full-time painter. She maintains a studio in The Button Factory in Portsmouth, NH. However, much of her work is done “en plein air” in urban and rural locations. She is an observational artist who responds to the environment around her. “Painterly” in her style, Lennie strives to simplify that which is observed to shape, color and texture.
Lennie is a recent graduate from UNH with a Masters in Fine Arts in Painting. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Art Education, CCSU, Sixth Year in Education, SCSU, and B.A., UCONN. She has twice studied painting abroad in Italy and, most recently, attended a class at Penland Art and Craft Art School in N.C. She has exhibited her paintings in numerous juried, solo and group shows throughout New England and in Italy. Her work is in private and public collections. Her paintings can be seen at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery in Portsmouth and at www.lenniemullaney.com.
Lennie taught middle school in C.T., and elementary and high school in M.E. She continues to work with young people in N.H. and looks for opportunities to integrate art in schools and the community. She is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association, PACA, Kittery Art Association, and the Art Barn in Ogunquit, M.E.
The Provident Bank’s Lobby for the Arts Program, celebrating its 18th year, is an ongoing series of local art exhibits displayed at all The Provident Bank branch lobbies. It receives no commission for artwork sold, and pays all expenses associated with the exhibit. The Provident Bank has been recognized for its commitment to building a creative community with a 2012 New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts (NHBCA) Business in the Arts Award for the Lobby for the Arts program as well as for its support of local artists and cultural organizations throughout the Seacoast New Hampshire region. |
